For many people the traditional career rules are no longer cutting it. There’s a new breed afoot that wants to work and live on its terms. The challenge for many however is that, they’ve spent so long on automatic pilot, or have so few examples of people creating their own work lives successfully, that they can feel a little lost in knowing how and where to begin.
If you’re looking for someone who’ll partner with you through what can be a significant redesign of your work and life you’ve come to the right place.
My role is to help you get really clear about what “good” looks like to you, help you untangle yourself from anything that’s holding you back from achieving it, and give you the tools and inspiration to thrive.
Christine is truly an expert in her field and I would encourage EVERYONE to work with her.
Ben Lumley, Motivational Trainer and Speaker
I’ve done big jobs for serious corporations for over a decade and have now coached and consulted with both individuals and companies since 1999.
Over the last eleven years, I’ve been navigating my own path to both doing the work and living the life I’ve dreamt of. Having achieved it, I’m now excited to be able to offer my wisdom, guidance and experience to others.
“What is coaching? And what’s it like working with you?”
I like to describe coaching as a smart, focused, real, gritty, challenging, clever, even funny conversation that’s are going to make a difference to the way you experience life and think about things.
In the process of our discussions we may unlock old patterns when they’re getting in your way. But the main focus of our work is on the present, because it’s here, today that you can make things different in your life.
Also, I can and will also share with you my knowledge, intuitions and experience in support of your progress. But I believe that you have the knowledge and resources lurking in yourself right now that’s more powerful than anything I could teach you. And when I’m working with people who truly are my tribe, something in the relationship between us allows those things to come forward, find voice and expression. That’s the real alchemy of coaching!
“What’s in it for me? How do I know this is money well spent?”
The benefits to you personally will be unique to you, but here’s a flavour of what to expect:
- You’ll feel more inspired, energized and motivated about work in particular and life in general right from the beginning
- You’ll build your own resourcefulness and feel much more able and resolute
- You’ll make real, tangible progress on the issues we work on
- You’ll get really clear about the direction you want your work to take
- You’ll get really clear about the role you want work to play, and the space you want it to take, in your life
- You’ll get to know yourself better and be able to be more “you” more of the time
- Because we’re focusing on the positive in life, you’ll expand your sense of what’s good and what’s possible
“How does it work?”
I work by Skype or by telephone, and you can hire me for one or for a programme of sessions.
The process is really straightforward:
- The work we do together is entirely bespoke. In other words, it’s about you in your unique circumstance and is pointed at what you uniquely want to achieve.
- We set goals to give our work focus, and to measure its success. My role in this is to help you articulate and craft your goals, and to give you some input, based on our discussions, into the likely kind of things we’ll need to work on to achieve them.
- If we’re doing a series of sessions, I’ll document goals for our shared ongoing reference. You’ll need to read them through and say whether you think they’re what you’ve signed up for and change them if not. But when you’re happy with what you’re focusing on, the documented goals become a promise to yourself and the world that you’re committing to change.
- We’ll work through all that we had agreed to, including anything new or different that gets changed or added along the way. It’s a really creative, dynamic process where the shape of the goals we’ve set provides a safe container for experimentation and change. But the map is not the territory, and sometimes diversion is not just required but invaluable.
- My role is to guide the process, based on our goals. It’s also to give insight and input based on my intuition and experience. I affirm you where appropriate, and challenge you when I believe that’s the best way to support you.
- Your role is to own and stay engaged with the process. To use it as a driving force for change in your life. To follow up on any actions that you’ve taken from our work as you’ve promised.
- There are any number of tools and processes that I can put to your disposal to help things along as we journey together:
- Personality questionnaires
- Lifestyle analysis
- Values discovery
- Time and resource use
- Life vision and purpose clarification
- Ideal week discovery journey
- Timeline analysis
- Personality drivers
- Beliefs elicitation
- Strengths articulation
- You will usually have a couple or more action points to take away, or things to progress. As well as learning stuff in the “incubator” of a coaching session, you’ll need to take things into the real world and put them into action. Inner change needs outer change to reinforce itself and indeed to propel it to the next level of its development. I’ll hold you accountable for your promised next steps.
- If we’re doing a series, I’ll follow up with you at the beginning of each session to find out how things have gone; what progress you’ve made; and what course-corrections, if any, you need to make.
- I can advise on books you should read to assist and speed up your learning, and I can connect and refer you to other professionals whose advice and support I imagine would be useful. These might range from blogging coaches, to nutritionists to healers and shamen.
- At the end of our work together, we review what we’ve achieved and do anything we still need to make concrete the lessons learned.
